What are Basic Digital Skills?
It is important for everyone to be digitally ready and to have the basic digital skills to enjoy greater convenience and participate meaningfully in a digital society.
The Basic Digital Skills (BDS) programme is a set of courses which focuses on equipping digital non-natives with skills to manage their everyday activities. They include managing information and communication, transacting digitally, accessing Government services; and staying safe online. This programme is curated by IMDA.
Are You Digitally Ready?
Our Basic Digital Skills Curriculum is designed to prepare Singaporeans - especially seniors - to embrace technology and use it confidently to participate meaningfully in the digital society. The programme will cover four areas:
1. Managing Information and Communication
Learn how to surf the internet and communicate using email and social media. You will be introduced to popular e-communication platforms such as Gmail, Facebook, WhatsApp and many more! Click here
2. Transacting Digitally
Pick up useful digital tools in online shopping, banking apps and e-payments. Learn about the online services, mobile banking and e-payment apps provided by major banks. Click here
3. E-Government
Familiarise yourself with the various Government digital services such as Singpass Mobile. Click here
4. Cybersecurity
Get tips on cybersecurity and learn how to stay safe while you are online. Learn how to discern fake news to protect yourself and your loved ones. Click here
